Preschool Curriculum

St. John Central Preschool Curriculum

We believe the first few years in a child's educational experience are very important in building a strong foundation for a child's continuing academic success. Our preschool emphasizes on the social and emotional development of each child. We focus on building confidence, self-control, listening and cooperation skills in all three of our classes. We build on our fine and gross motor skills through engaging and creative activities.

All children are assessed individually and regular conferences are held.

Our curriculum includes educational field trips (examples include visting farms and picking strawberries, planetarium with pizzeria, and going to the ballet.) We invite community voluteers to help with special projects such as hatching baby quail and painting pottery. The children create a journal throughout the year; it becomes a keepsake and a nice way to see your child's progress.

Early Learning Class - 3 year old

We introduce shapes, colors, letters, and numbers. Activities include: dramatic play, puzzles, blocks, manipulatives, art and music. The children participate in circle time, which includes story and calendar.

Day

Welcome to a new school year! My name is Mrs. Day, and I’m so excited to be your child’s preschool teacher. I’ve been working in Early Childhood Education for over 28 years, and I truly feel blessed to continue doing what I love each and every day.

I hold an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education and am a licensed educational paraprofessional in the state of Ohio. My passion lies in creating a warm, engaging, and safe classroom where children can develop a strong foundation for lifelong learning. I believe that children learn best through play, so I use a structured, hands-on curriculum that supports academic, social, emotional, and physical growth—while still allowing each child to learn at their own pace.

One of my favorite parts of teaching is building strong, lasting relationships with both my students and their families. I’ll keep you updated on your child’s progress throughout the year and share simple tips you can use at home to support their learning and confidence as they prepare for kindergarten.

Outside of the classroom, I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, and learning about history. I’m looking forward to a year full of fun, learning, and discovery—and I’m so glad to be on this journey with you and your child!
