Goals for the student:

Improve reading skills including phonics, decoding (sounding out words) and fluency

Improve reading comprehension strategies and skills

Improve spelling and vocabulary skills

 

Goals for the teacher:

Provide targeted, specific reading instruction

Motivate students to read

Provide students with positive learning environment

Provide parent help/resources

 

I work closely with the classroom teacher to improve academic achievement and test scores.

 

Classroom Curriculum: The Journeys basal reading series is followed in the Title I classroom. Supplemental activities that complement the reading series are also implemented. Interactive Smart Board lessons including vocabulary and phonics reinforce targeted skills.
