CLASSROOM POLICIES AND GOALS:
My classroom provides an atmosphere of caring about others, acceptance, safety, and mutual respect. I engage in competent, quality instruction to encourage my students to reach their highest level of potential as life-long learners. I strive to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all of my students. My spiritual goal is to share my love for God and help my students
grow in their personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
I firmly believe that communication between home and school is very important. I send home every Friday, a form listing what my students will be doing the next week. Parents are welcome to call me at school or at home. Parents can also email me at karenpottmeyer@yahoo.com
STATEMENT OF CLASS CURRICULUM:
My class curriculum follows state standards. The curriculum is challenging and interesting. My students are taught organization and study skills along with the content of my subject areas. My students are encouraged to take responsibility for their performance in school and at home.
My students take part in the school science fair every other year. Students gain valuable knowledge and experience in researching a topic, using the scientific method, and giving an oral presentation. Students who receive a superior rating can then go on to the District Science Fair and possibly the State Science Fair.
St. John Central is a Catholic school, so my class curriculum includes reading the Bible. I believe it's very important that my students grow in ther Christian faith.
